Sodium sulphate (Na₂SO₄) is a white, crystalline solid which is also referred to as Glauber’s salt in its decahydrate form. It is quite soluble in water and is usually of either of the natural mineral origin or an industrial waste product.
SSA has various applications across different industries due to its properties :-
Detergents and Cleaning Agents
Glass Manufacturing
Textile Industry
Pulp and Paper Industry
Applicable in the manufacturing of detergents and cleaning compounds as a way of increasing the efficiency of surfactants and guaranteeing the best performance.
Used in dyeing processes to make the distribution of dyes on fabrics uniform.
Applied in textile processing to regulate ionic equilibrium and enhance the absorbance of dye by the fibres.
Used in paper production as a filler that enhances the brightness and quality of the paper.
Assists in the pulping process which in turn enables the separation of the fibres and improvement of the production process.
Used in the production of various chemicals such as sodium sulphide, sodium silicate and other industrial chemicals.
Used in the preparation of some drugs as a purgative and a bulking agent.
Employed in the manufacture of different types of pharmaceuticals to maintain quality and shelf life.
Sodium sulphate is usually sold in powder or granule form and can be packed in bags, bulk sacks or containers. Specialised packaging ensures safe transportation and storage, catering to specific industrial requirements.
